The Changing of the Guard is one of the most famous traditions in London and a major attraction for visitors. The ceremony takes place outside Buckingham Palace and involves the formal handover of responsibility for guarding the palace from one group of soldiers to another. These soldiers, known as the Queen’s Guard, wear distinctive red tunics and tall bearskin hats while performing the ceremony. Accompanied by a military band, the guards march in formation and carry out precise drills, creating a colourful display of British pageantry and military tradition that reflects the long history of the monarchy and the armed forces.
